Fall Field Hockey Club

Fall Season 2025

Dates: Saturdays - September 6th - November 8th (no practice November 1st as it's the day after Halloween - however, we may use it as a makeup date if a practice is cancelled due to weather)

Times: 

• Grades K-2 - 8:45am-10am
• Grades 3-5 - 8:45am-10am
• Grades 6-8 - 8am-10am

ALL skill levels (*Option available for current 9th graders that are not on a JV or varsity field hockey team)

Location: Ghilotti Turf Field at Redwood High School

Cost:

• Grades K-5 - $350
• Grades 6-8 - $570 

Registration fee is due in full on or before the first practice. Rippers athletic shirt for tournaments included for new players or those that need a new size). 

*If you are new to field hockey, you are welcome to come to the first practice and try it out. Create an account and register for a Trial Practice. If you like it, sign  up for Rippers field hockey, and if not, no worries! We can also prorate the registration fee for those who cannot make the whole season. Please email us BEFORE registering to get a promo code - do not ask for a pro-rated refund after registeration as this impacts operation decisions. 

Tournaments:

Players can sign up to participate in optional fall tournaments for an additional fee that is calculated at cost to keep it as low as possible. 

• Hockey Gobble Tournament (usually the Saturday / Sunday after our last practice) - Willow Glen, CA
• Thunderstruck - Palo Alto, CA

Tournament Fees: TBD

Tournament Uniforms: all players wear black shorts, their Navy Rippers shirt, and white and navy socks.

Current USA Field Hockey Membership Required for All Players:

Due to insurance requirements, all players must be members of the USA Field Hockey Association in order to participate in practices and non-USFHA sponsored local tournaments. You may either purchase a USA Field Hockey Membership directly from the USFHA (select "Golden Gate Rippers" as your club affiliation). Or you may purchase your annual USFHA membership through Rippers for $10 during registration through the USFHA club support program. Memberships last for one year. 

Required Equipment

• ALL players MUST have a mouthguard AND shin guards – field hockey shin guards are recommended (soccer ones acceptable for younger players) or they will NOT be allowed to participate
• Field hockey loaner sticks and balls will be available for use, but we recommend players have their own stick
• Goalie equipment is available to use for interested players
• Running shoes, turf shoes or cleats are acceptable footwear (note some tournaments do not allow cleats due to their type of turf)
