WELCOME TO RIPPERS FIELD HOCKEY!

YEAR ROUND COMPETITIVE K-12 FIELD HOCKEY

The Golden Gate Rippers Field Hockey Club is passionate about developing youth and high school field hockey in the North Bay. We are proud to be the 1st and ONLY field hockey club in the North Bay, established in 2019. 

Rippers is open to ALL skill levels - from elite players to beginners.

Athletes are taught by highly experienced field hockey coaches - former players from top D1 schools and international programs. Dedicated goalie coach. 

Training focuses on developing strong stick skill fundamentals and advanced field tactics and strategies. We grow and improve as a team through our competitive practices and tournament play. Competitive tournament teams are based on age and skill level. We offer both weekend and weekday field hockey. Our Saturday / Sunday practices are the foundation of our club program, where players practice with their teams. Weekdays sessions are focused on mastering individual skill development.

Our fall session is for K-8, as our high schools players are in the middle of their respective high school seasons. Our winter skills clinic, spring season and summer camps are open to grades K-12, and are a wonderful opportunity for players to to work with field hockey players from other teams in their area and build camaraderie.

Our youth coaching program also provides high school athletes the opportunity to build their leadership skills and serve as role models to our younger players. Please reach out if you're a high school player interested in coaching.

USA FIELD HOCKEY MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED FOR ALL PLAYERS

All players must be members of the USA Field Hockey Association in order to participate in practices and non-USFHA sponsored local tournaments. You may either purchase a USA Field Hockey Membership directly from the USFHA (select "Golden Gate Rippers" as your club affiliation). Or you may purchase your annual USFHA membership through Rippers for $10 during registration through the USFHA club support program. Memberships last for one year. 

Waiver Required

All players are required to sign waiver & liability forms, medical release, etc. before you can play (practice or games). Waivers will be filled out electronically during registration. If you are coming for a trial practice to see if you like field hockey, please register for a Trial Practice in order to sign waivers.

Required Equipment

• ALL players MUST have a mouthguard AND shin guards – field hockey shin guards are recommended (soccer ones acceptable for younger players) or they will NOT be allowed to participate
• Field hockey loaner sticks and balls will be available for use, but we recommend players have their own stick
• Goalie equipment is available to use for interested players
• Running shoes, turf shoes or cleats are acceptable footwear (note some tournaments do not allow cleats due to their type of turf)
• Please bring plenty of water and a snack

Sessions are rain or shine! 

If a practice is cancelled due to severe weather, we will try to reschedule a makeup session.

Notes on practices - come for a trial!

If you can't make all the practice dates (e.g., you've committed to soccer or lacrosse and can only make 5 practices), please email us BEFORE you register and we can give you a promo code to use. Please do not register and ask for a pro-rated refund as this impacts operations. If you're unsure if your child will like field hockey, email us about trying a practice (even if the season has started). You can also come to our first or second fall or spring season practice to try it out and register after (please bring mouthguard and shin guards). We are more than happy to work with you! No refunds for missed practices or tournaments once the season has started.
