Spring Season

Spring Season 2026

Dates: Sundays 2/1-5/10 (5/17 will be make up date if a practice is cancelled due to weather)

*There will be NO practice 2/14 or 4/5 due to ski week and spring break. We do practice on Easter and Mother's Day.

*Tournament weekends: 4 dates - we do NOT normally practice on tournament weekends (unless otherwise notified in advance).

Times: 

• Grades K-2 - 8:45am-10am
• Grades 3-5 - 8:45am-10am
• Grades 6-8 - 8am-10am
• Grades 9-12 - 10am-12pm

Location: Ghilotti Turf Field at Redwood High School

Cost:

• Grades K-5 - $375
• Grades 6-12 - $595

The registration fee is due in full on or before the first practice. Rippers athletic tournament shirt included for new players or those that need a new size. 

*If you are new to field hockey, you are welcome to come to the first practice and try it out. If you like it, we can sign you up, and if not, no worries! We can also prorate the registration fee for those who cannot make the whole season. Please email us before registering.

Tournaments: Rippers will be participating in several tournaments this spring! Participation is optional and requires an additional fee, which is TBD and calculated at cost based on each tournament. More information about tournaments, schedules and registration will be provided during the season as we get updates from tournament organizers.

Tournament Fees: TBD

Tournament Uniforms: all players wear black shorts, their Navy Rippers shirt, and white and navy socks.

Shoes: We play on actual field hockey turf at Cal Berkeley, UC Davis and Stanford tournaments. NO CLEATS are allowed on proper field hockey turf! Wear turf shoes or running shoes. If you wear cleats, you will not be allowed to play!

Current USA Field Hockey Membership Required for All Players:

Due to insurance requirements, all players must be members of the USA Field Hockey Association in order to participate in practices and non-USFHA sponsored local tournaments. You may either purchase a USA Field Hockey Membership directly from the USFHA (select "Golden Gate Rippers" as your club affiliation). Or you may purchase your annual USFHA membership through Rippers for $10 during registration through the USFHA club support program. Memberships last for one year. 

Required Equipment

• ALL players MUST have a mouthguard AND shin guards – field hockey shin guards are recommended (soccer ones acceptable for younger players) or they will NOT be allowed to participate
• Field hockey loaner sticks and balls will be available for use, but we recommend players have their own stick
• Goalie equipment is available to use for interested players
• Running shoes, turf shoes or cleats are acceptable footwear (note some tournaments do not allow cleats due to their type of turf)
